Northern Nevada Public Health, formerly known as the Washoe County Health District, has selected a new District Health Officer.
More than 90 people applied for the position.
From that, three candidates were selected for in-person interviews.
Those were held on Thursday, and the district board of health ultimately decided to move forward with Chad Kingsley, the current public health director for Mohave County.
Kingsley has almost 8 years of experience working in public health.
He has a master's degree in healthcare management as well as a medical degree from Mexico.
He's also worked with Southern Nevada Public Health and was the one candidate with experience in air quality control.
the board says all that helped them make their decision since the role covers a lot of different areas.
Now that Kingsley has been selected, there is an employee agreement process that needs to take place for his hiring to become official.
