Retired Army Captain Sam Brown has officially filed to run in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate on Friday. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has endorsed him. With that, he is receiving the support of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Steve Daines, and other top Republicans in the U.S. Senate. Brown has a comfortable lead in resources and grassroots support, making him the presumptive frontrunner to challenge incumbent Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen in November.

"I am running to help Nevadans who have really been negatively impacted by the policies of the Biden Administration, and Jacky Rosen has unfortunately just gone a long with all of those policies that have hurt," said Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Nevada Sam Brown.

Brown recently endorsed former President Donald Trump. He is a staunch conservative on major issues such as energy, healthcare, the Second Amendment, and border security.

"There are also concerns about public safety risks due to the overwhelming number of people coming across the border illegally, and Jacky Rosen sits on the Homeland Security Committee, where she has direct oversight and should provide answers," said Brown.

Brown has gone on record saying he would not vote for a federal abortion ban, saying the issue should be left to individual states. Last month, Brown and his wife Amy spoke about her unplanned pregnancy at age 24 while being on birth control and subsequent abortion.

"My wife and my personal experience has led us to be pro-life, but we've also been extremely clear that we understand there is a necessity for exceptions in those tragic cases of rape, incest, the life of the mother, and medical emergencies," said Brown.

I asked Brown about his stance on the upcoming Supreme Court hearing that could limit access to the most commonly used abortion pill, mifepristone.

"The court will hear their arguments and make their case, and that's something we'll wait and see what the courts do," said Brown.

Brown's campaign tells us the next steps are getting his name recognition up, with a heavy focus on federal spending and inflation.

"This spending will continue to add to the inflation that is driving prices up. You know, it's prices at the grocery store, it's prices at the gas station, it's prices in our utilities. Life is becoming unaffordable for so many," said Brown.

Nevada Democrats responded to Brown's announcement today with the following statement:

"MAGA extremist Sam brown is a self-serving politician who puts the interests of his party leaders in Washington, out-of-state billionaires, and special interests over what's best for hardworking Nevadans. Whether he is pushing extreme abortion bans after fighting to overturn Roe v. Wade or supporting a plan to phase out Social Security and Medicare while doubling down on tax cuts for the ultra-rich and giant corporations, Brown's priorities are deeply out of step with Nevada voters. For the next three months, Nevada's will continue to be one of the messiest and most crowded republican senate primaries in the country."
