A person was arrested in Fernley after an alleged high-speed pursuit in Douglas County.
Santos Benitez-Tejada was arrested on the charges of felony eluding, reckless driving, speeding 41+ miles per hour over the posted speed limit, and speeding 21+ miles per hour in a school zone.
Around 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, Benitez-Tejada was allegedly speeding and running other cars off the road on Highway 395 in Gardnerville.Â
Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies located them and tried conduct a traffic stop, but they continued driving at about 80 miles per hour into a school zone.Â
The pursuit continued on State Route 88 and State Route 207, with the suspect driving into oncoming traffic, until they reached California, and the pursuit was terminated.
Benitez-Tejada was then located in Fernley around 9 p.m. on Thursday and was arrested.
