Activist Greta Thunberg says business and political leaders are misleading the public by holding climate talks that are not achieving real action against what she called the world's “climate emergency.”
In a fact-filled speech, Thunberg told negotiators that the U.N. climate talks in Madrid had turned into just another chance for countries to negotiate loopholes and avoid being ambitious in fighting climate change.
In Brussels, meanwhile, the European Union is set to announce an ambitious plan on cutting the greenhouse gas emissions.
That move could put pressure on other countries to at the U.N. climate conference to step up the fight against climate change.
