You don't have to go all way out to the Black Rock Desert to get a Burning Man experience. The Morris Burner Hostel is opening its doors for the Reno community to get a taste.Â
Burning Man is being replicated on a smaller scale at the hostel, located off of Fourth Street in Reno. It's where burners come to stay and create art.
Several events have been going on all week. Family Burn Friday is an alcohol free, family friendly event where you can enjoy music, games and experience the burner life.
Jim Gibson, the owner of the Morris Burner Hostel said, "It's all kinds of artsy things, learn about Burning Man. We probably will have a barbeque going on in the backyard and just have some real family fun."
The purpose of the event is to educate the Reno community about The 10 Principles of Burning Man, which includes the values of radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, immediacy, communal effort, participation, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, gifting, and decommodification.Â
"The rooms are all done by different artists. And they're amazing. From Really Calm Southwest to Down the Rabbit Hole, just crazy. We just did the DaVinci Room. That's that theme this year. It's a room for people to sit in there and paint. Do their art," said Gibson.Â
The tours are free on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday there will be burn days here at the Morris Burner Hostel.Â
