Earlier today, Alpine County officials reminded voters that the Markleeville Post Office was closed, which could affect ballot processing.

Ballots placed at the post office while it was closed would not have been postmarked until Wednesday, November 5, and might not have met election deadlines.

However, as of this afternoon, county officials have confirmed that the post office has reopened and will remain open until 3 p.m. today. Since it’s now 2 p.m., voters still have a short window to mail ballots.

Officials continue to emphasize that the most reliable way to ensure ballots are processed on time is to hand-deliver them to the County Clerk’s Office. While the post office is now open, ballots mailed late today may still face delays.

The county clerk’s office, located at 99 Water Street in Markleeville, will accept ballots until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The office can be reached at 530-694-2281.
